From Don in Santa Barbara

Dear Traveling Lantern,
Your production of Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" is truly wonderful and memorable. We loved it, and so did the entire audience at yesterday's staging at the Santa Barbara Central Library. Your "Christmas Carol" script is intelligent and authentic to its source. The costumes, sets, and sound effects all seem just right too. The actors, Greg Lawson and Greg Tankersley, gave tremendous enthusiasm to their roles. Tankersley put so much genuine emotion, ranging from grief to pure joy, into his characterization of Scrooge, that I was moved to tears several times during his performance. His interpretation of Ebineezer Scrooge affected me more strongly than any other that I have seen on stage or screen. During their "questions and answers" session that followed the show, both actors treated each child with admirable respect. And both Lawson and Tankersley were very kind and helpful to my elderly parents and me, helping us find a good spot to place our wheelchair. For several years I was a volunteer with Northwest Children's Theatre in Portland, Oregon. We were known for our tasteful interpretaions of literary classics (including "A Christmas Carol" a few years ago). You have my sincere respect and appreciation for your work. Thank you. Sincerely, Don Bobbs

Thanks so much for writing, Don! Merry Christmas to you and your parents.- KB

A nice note from Kyle in Wisconsin

I really liked the play you did at my school last week. How did you say the lines without a paper? I say my lines with a paper. I have a program at my church tomorrow. Our class is going too sing Away In A Manger. The boys are going too sing Little Drumer Boy. I had fun at California becuse my famiy and I went to Disney Land in 2005. I got a Mickey Mouse sucker. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you for writing, Kyle! - KB

From Judy in PA

The Hobbit show was GREAT! We even had a few teenagers here, and they enjoyed it. The actors were well trained in their show. Thanks for rescheduling! I'm looking forward to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - as long funds are available. (We the PA/and county libraries are going through another cutback in funds.)
Merry Christmas, and Blessings for the coming weeks.
Judy

Sorry to hear about your funding...it is a national problem under the current administration.
Merry Christmas to you, too! - KB

From Nancy in IL

We had a performance of "A Christmas Carol" yesterday and it was wonderful! The performers, Kay Capasso and Jonathon Musser, did an outstanding job. We look forward to having the Traveling Lantern Company back next year!

Thank you for writing, Nancy. We look forward to coming back next year! - KB

The GREGS in AZ, from Connie

We just want to say thanks and wow! to Greg and Greg. We LOVED the Hobbit! The set, props and costumes were so interesting. The acting was superb! We think you're worth way more than we paid you. Thanks for brightening up a cold, rainy day. We hope we can make you an annual event!

Our pleasure, Carol, and thanks for writing! - KB

From Lyn in Ohio

KB - The show today was GREAT! The kids really enjoyed it and personally, I think it was better than traveling to Dayton to see the version we usually go to. We had a snow delay yesterday, so we couldn't have even got to Dayton for that show anyway...the lost ticket order must have been Fate! We are interested in booking this show again next year. Do you do Christmas Carol every year? Attached are a few photos from the show... (I do the yearbook so I was taking some photos). Please share them with the actors! THANKS AGAIN FOR THE QUICK RESCUE!!!! Lynn Shirk - Tippecanoe Middle School

From Mrs. Moine's class in Iowa

HELLO from Durant Elementary in Sumner, Iowa!
We were having trouble getting on to the BLOG. We really enjoyed your performance of a Christmas Carol. I am sending you the questions from some of our students. Here are some questions my kids had after the play:
1. How long did you rehearse this play?
2. How many places have you done this play?
3. Why do you use just 2 actors?
4. How long have you been acting?
5. How many times have you done this play?
6. How many plays do you do?
7. What inspired you to do this play?
Thanks for helping us kick off our "December Unit in Reading"
Mrs. Moine, Elementary Principal

I will ask Jonathon and Kay to get back to you! To view their responses, click on the comment button below - KB
