Ross and Amanda send us pictures from NY and NJ

Setting up backstage...getting ready for the show! Ross is positioning Archimedes (the owl) and that thing you see next to him (metal) is called a THUNDER SHEET. If you shake it, it sounds like thunder! Ask him to show you how it works.
Amanda is laying out their costumes backstage so that they can change into them REALLY QUICKLY!
Part of the magic of becoming another character in a TL show is how fast you can change costumes...if you're really quick, and act very differently, you may convince the audience that you are another person altogether!

Team Durango also has a sensitive side.

How CUTE!!!!!!

Team Durango has a goofy streak.

I asked Team Durango to take a picture of themselves in front of a landmark for publication on this blog. What did they choose? A penitentiary! Here are the two gentlemen just before they got run off the property and were sent off in their SUV to the next town to peform. ACTORS! (We love these two...they keep us laughing!)

FABULOUS Fargo Librarians!

Two Lovely Librarians (that Fred and Jude were probably flirting with...look at those sweet smiles!) in Fargo.

Fred and his sad tights, Jude and his P. B. and J.

Fred and Jude suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, without a spare pair of leggings, or a good juicy leg of lamb to get them through...it's tough on the road!

A letter to Greg & Greg...from Wisconsin

Dear Greg & Greg;
Thank you so much for the wonderful performance that you performed of the Sword in the Stone at Reedsburg Library on Monday, June 27th.
My kids and I loved it. Your creative acting and the way that you kept the kids on the edge of their seats were incredible.
I know that you have brought an even stronger love of theater to my kids and they spent that night telling their Dad and Grandma every detail of the play. They then spent the next few days pretending they were the different characters in the play.
We spend so much time stressing sporting activities on our kids that is was a nice change of pace to be able to show them another creative outlet as well.
Please find enclosed notes and pictures that my kids wanted to send to you. Listed below is our address. Feel free to jot them a short note back if you find time, they would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely.

Robin & Courtney & Ian Hamilton
Reedsburg, WI

(Note from KB (7-11-05): Robin...I dropped a post card to you all into the mail today, and I will be sure to pass these letters and drawings on to the Gregs upon thier return to San Diego. I am also going to to try and scan Courtney's letter to post here on our blog....thanks for writing!)

About Fred and Jude...from Mary in Oregon

Good morning,

I wish to thank you so much for making available such
fine entertainment. We contracted for the play "THE
SWORD IN THE STONE" and were greatly impressed.

Fred and Jude are excellent actors. They dealt gently
and patiently with the children (which is a talent in
itself). Offering a venue for some of the children to
take part is always appreciated. Young and old
enjoyed the play. They didn't want to go home!

You can definitely use me as a reference.

Have a wonderful summer,

Welcome to the Traveling Lantern Blog!

WOW! We always wanted a place where the actors and audience could intermingle on the web, and here it is!
Traveling Lantern now has two teams out: Greg and Greg, who are currently in Wisconsin, and Fred and Jude who are in Oregon now, and headed over to Montana soon. Ross and Amanda will be performing in New Jersey later in July, and Ross is going to be making the LONG drive there and back by himself...(Amanda, lucky duck, gets to FLY....).
So, welcome one and all, to our new blog!!! If you have something you would like to post (and we hope that you do!), we'd love to hear from you.
We'll also publish pictures from the actors (and hopefully from you too!) so you can see what they are up to as they travel across the country performing "The Sword in the Stone".
(This is a site that will be visited by young bloggers across the country, so we ask that you keep "age-appropriateness" in mind when posting comments on this site.)
We really look forward to hearing from you...SO...welcome to our home away from home!
