From Heather Harris in IL

"I am a school teacher for the Sparta District in Sparta, IL. Our students watched Dorthy in the Land of Oz and it was excellent. The actors, Sarah and Bruce (Markuz...KB), deserve a round of applause for their remarkable performance. The children enjoyed every minute of it. I watched it twice and it was even better the second time. A wonderful job acting and involving the children. Thank-you for the wonderful performance. A"

Zachery Thatcher from Reading, PA has a LOT to say!

Zachery did an entire synopsis of the story...he's in second Grade, and our favorite part is when he describes the Wicked Witch of the East (who's shoes stick out from under Dorothy's house): When her sister finds out I don't want to talk about it!

A request from Jordan in NJ

Message from Jordan:

"Next time you come to Corpus Christi can you do the swore in the stone."

Thanks Jordan for writing! We will be bringing the Sword in the Stone back to Corpus Christi soon, but not next year...but I promise we WILL have action and adventure and swordfights coming your way very soon!

(no editing of Jordan's message allowed...but do you think King Arthur might be swearing while he tries to pull the sword from the stone?...Oh my goodness, we had a chuckle!...KB)

Ms. McKay...

From Arlington, MN 3-12-06

Dear Ms. Mercer;
On behalf of two hundred and fifty children from Grades 3, 4 and 5, and their teachers and some parents, I want to thank the Traveling Lantern organization for the lovely presentation on "The Life of Mozart" which your two actors gave us on Wednesady, March 8th.

They performed for both our elementary school sites, and had equal success before both audiences. Our principal was very pleased. She thought is was very touching, as did I. The idea of the large ghost for the banquet scene of Don Giovanni was most effective, as was the beautifully spoken taped narration. Thank you for including many musical examples.

In the interaction with the students, the actors were very sincere and answered the children's' questions so nicely. They were not condescending, but rather genuinely interested in the children.

I believe our students will always remember Mozart's 250th birthday since they had the opportunity to see this special presentation!

Please give your two artists my warmest wishes and thanks.
Sincerely;
Sara McKay

Some letters from Ms. Nelson's 1st Grade class at Whitmore, in Tucson

You really MUST click on these pictures to see the detail. Armando captured Dorothy's excitement and wonder (and look at TOTO!), and Taylor really captured the movement of the storm (see how Dorothy is being blown away...top right?) and Bridget is just stylish...verticals and horizontals and lots of straight lines. And what WONDERFUL letters ALL the students wrote: I'm really sorry I didn't have room to put more of them on the blog. Thank you, Ms. Nelson's class, BRAVO!
